Considering alternative choices to University Courses?

‘The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude’ - Oprah Winfrey

We have the ability to change our direction in life, by adopting a new attitude and learning new skills.

Finishing A-levels and signing up to university isn’t for everyone. For those looking to further their education or join the workforce, there’s a vast number of paths to explore. These days, with universities costing up to a whopping £9,250 per year, it comes as no surprise that people are looking for alternative options.

The average graduate debt – tuition compounded by maintenance costs and high interest rates stands at more than £50,000 for a three-year degree. After the maintenance grant was scrapped in 2016, many students have struggled financially during term time.

Alternative ways in which to learn

  • University education is a form of structured higher or further education that leads to the award of an academic qualification. Students can choose from a wide range of courses that are usually delivered over a period of two or more years. University may be the most traditional path to take, but there are countless opportunities available to you as a school leaver.

  • With all these high-quality courses and apprenticeships now available, students don’t necessarily have to go to university to pursue their dream career. However, if students are looking to pursue a specific path like dentistry or medicine, then university could be a good option. Nevertheless, there are other means to train in business, finance, marketing, or engineering.

  • Apart from industry-recognised qualifications, there is much more to gain from alternative means of training and investing in your education, some of which include the opportunity to gain much needed experience whilst studying.

  • One of these is a degree apprenticeship, which was launched in 2015. For three or four years, apprentices’ study for their degree whilst gaining paid industry experience. Course costs are covered by the employer and the government.

  • Online courses are another opportunity to supplement education, gain new knowledge and expand your skillset – all from the comfort of your home. Our BeautytoLife accelerator programme can help you gain the knowledge to set up your own beauty business.

Regardless of whether you are a make-up artist, straight out of school, working in retail, or in a completely different field, if you have a burning desire to launch your own beauty and wellness brand, this is the programme for you.

  • Our six modules are delivered online – each module contains important strategies that can be applied to your business – from creating your brand, PR, and marketing strategy, to understanding how to manufacture products and what this entails. It also includes insights into packaging, how to work with suppliers, and how to identify the best routes to market.  One of the greatest benefits is that it is taught online, so that you can learn at your own pace, regardless of where you are based in the world.
